Throughout
history, people have looked for ways to find answers about life,
the future, and what lies in store for them. All over the world
you will find various cultures who use different methods to
find answers to the mysteries of life. The Viking's developed
Runes, usually made of small stones or bone, which they cast
to guide their decisions. The Chinese use the I Ching, or Chinese
Book of Changes as an oracle. Palmistry is believed to have
originated in the Far East about 4000 years ago and is still
very popular today. In the United States, astrology is probably
the most widely used and accepted form of forecasting future
events, providing information based on the position of the planets
at one's time of birth.
Of course,
there are other ways in which we can peer into the unknown.
Psychology is a science that looks for the hidden reasons behind
a person's behavior, including fears, phobias, and disorders.
Graphology, or handwriting analysis, is another science that
searches for clues about an individual's character traits based
on the formation of letters and sentence structure.
Whether any
of these systems, including psychology, actually work relies
on the experiences and opinions of practitioners and individuals
who have utilized them. In short, what works well for one person
may not for work at all for another. However, before you dismiss
the ability of any of these forms to uncover the unknown --
at least give them a fair chance!
